Pre-Conference Seminar for Students and Young Professionals

Call for Proposals:

Current or recently graduated piano students and young professionals are encouraged to submit proposals to be considered for presentation at the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy Pre-Conference Seminar on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.  The selected seven-minute presentations will address the subject “How to Make the Most of Graduate School.”
Presenters might consider the following suggestions as examples of potential topics: taking particular courses for career development; carving out a professional niche while still a student; gaining professional experience that will set you apart during job searches; or developing a research agenda. We are seeking proposals that focus on a particular area rather than a broad overview of graduate school experience.
Proposals should include a 250-word essay describing their answer to the question. Please include a short bio (maximum of 50 words) with the essay.
Presentations will last six minutes followed by a one-minute question and answer period.
Each proposal should include the following:
  • a 250-word essay
  • the presenter's name, 50-word bio, email address, and university affiliation, if applicable

The deadline for proposals to be received is Thursday, September 15, 2016. Please send proposals to Lesley McAllister at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Scholarships are available on a competitive basis for selected presenters and any current pedagogy students and young professionals who are attending the pre-conference seminar.
